No-One Driving" is a 1980 song by UK artist John Foxx, and was released as a single in March 1980. It was the second single release from the Metamatic album, after "Underpass". The song is typical of Foxx's musical output of the time, featuring a Ballardian dystopian scenario involving an automobile in the lyrics, with music produced using electronic instruments (synthesisers, drum machines, electronic percussion) only.

Originally released in 1980 Metamatic is one of the most popular John Foxx albums. The live recording opens with the B-side Film One. Sadly it sounds like a backing tape of the original recording with some synth doodling over the top. It would have been nice to have heard a fresh version of this track. Each track has the inclusion of the audience to give more atmospheres; this ambience is then faded out of the recording. Various other B-sides appear alongside the original Metamatic album tracks; these include Glimmer, Mr No and This City from the ‘No-One Driving’ double single. Another interesting inclusion was ‘My Face’ from the flexi disc. The album ends with the newly titled 21st Century. This is really a collectors album for fans of John Foxx, those who are new to John Foxx should listen to the original Metamatic album first. Reply Notify me 3 Helpful.
