What a Wonderful World-Th. has been added to your Cart. Playback is very poor. This vinyl album was made from a poorly recorded CD. All tracks are flat, have hissing, bumps and pops; no highs, no lows, and very poor middle. Expensive gear only magnifies the offense. Louis Armstrong's last recording features his vocals on a surprising collection of songs, including 'What a Wonderful World,' 'The Creator has a Master Plan (Peace)', 'Mood Indigo', 'This Cat has 9 Lives,' 'Give Peace a Chance', etc. Great orchestra and vocal backing.

What a Wonderful World" is a pop ballad written by Bob Thiele (as "George Douglas") and George David Weiss. It was first recorded by Louis Armstrong and released in 1967 as a single, which topped the pop charts in the United Kingdom. Thiele and Weiss were both prominent in the music world (Thiele as a producer and Weiss as a composer/performer). Armstrong's recording was inducted in the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999.

By 1968, Louis Armstrong was in failing health, but in the UK, ‘What A Wonderful World’ was bringing him a whole new audience and making him a 66-year-old chart sensation. That single topped the British bestsellers for four weeks from the end of April, and sold more than half a million copies. But today our attention turns to the less-remembered follow-up, which hit the UK charts for Satchmo on 26 June that year. It was ‘The Sunshine of Love. Armstrong’s professional diary for the period had the great trumpeter and bandleader travelling far and wide as usual.
