The All Star Trio were a popular dance band at the turn of the 20th century, frequently recording on cylinders for the Edison company. The group recorded numerous songs that became 20th century Jazz standards including "St. Louis Blues", "Beale Street Blues", "The 12th Street Rag" and the Original Dixieland Jazz Band's "Sensation". Members included saxophonist Wheeler Wadsworth, pianist Victor Arden and xylophonist George Hamilton Green.

More than any other single instrumentalist, Rudy Wiedoeft helped popularize the saxophone in the early twentieth century. Wiedoeft also left behind a legacy of compositions for the saxophone that remains an integral part of its literature. Born in Detroit, Wiedoeft played with his parents and sibli.

Rudy Wiedoeft’s style had that typical 1920s ragtime feel to it. It was full of the effects that we’ve come to recognize as of the time, such as: slap tonguing, double tonguing, triple tonguing, laughing, and of course vibrato. Wiedoeft was also a composer, and some of his original music became extremely popular. One of his most popular pieces was Saxophobia, which was written in 1918.
