About Night Drive (Thru-Babylon). To paraphrase Ishkur: The product of middle-class African-American suburban Detroit youth who came of age listening to obscure, whitebread androgynous European Electro and Italo. Detroit Techno takes the feel of electro strips away the mindless happiness and replaces it with the bleakness and mechanical nature of their automotive surroundings.
