Flamin' Groovies is an American rock music band that started in San Francisco in 1965, led by Roy Loney and Cyril Jordan. After the Groovies released three albums, Loney left the band in 1971. He was replaced as co-leader by Chris Wilson, and the band's emphasis shifted more toward British Invasion power pop. The band signed to United Artists Records in 1972, releasing just three more singles until 1976.

Sadly, like the '79 . gig released in France in '85, Live at the Whiskey A-Go-Go, this recording is only sufficient to document, not red hot and special. But it's still history in the grooves. Pick up the 1989 retrospective Groovies Greatest Grooves for the ultimate document of their Sire era (three LPs, '76-'79) - it also contains the far-tougher, less-retro Loney-era treasures "Slow Death" and "Tallahassee Lassie" - and then get this.

The Flamin Groovies released their third album, Teenage Head, back in 1971 to much critical praise. However, because the group was known only tentatively in the Midwest and San Fransisco (where they originated about 1968), the record won little popularity and no airplay. Teenage Head by the Flamin' Groovies. Teenage Head by the Flamin' Groovies was a wonderful, though uneven, collection of songs that rejoiced in rock and roll, both traditionally, by recalling some of the best spirits of late 50s music (.

Only 19 copies of this pressing existed as of 1981 (I know - I rescued all surviving copies and sold 16 of the 19 and kept one). Most K&S colour wax titles were pressed in limited quantities (usually ~150 copies). Almost all titles were busted, confiscated and most were destroyed in the big bust of 1980. Surviving copies were "rescued" after they were returned to the bustee a year or so later (bootlegs weren't technically illegal in Canada). Only a handful of many titles escaped destruction, and some titles were destroyed in their entirety making some of the K&S pressings the rarest bootlegs in existence.
