It was released in Europe on 9 May 1988 by CBS, and in the US on 20 September 1988 by Columbia Records. The album was recorded in Woodstock, New York, and produced by Desmond Child. Unlike Tyler's previous two releases, the album failed to chart on the Billboard 200, but did see success in Europe.

Her most successful single with RCA was "It's a Heartache", which became her first hit in America. The song's sales are in excess of six million.
