Accelerated Evolution' was the first album to be released under the banner of The Devin Townsend Band. Rather than marking a mere cosmetic change, however, in comparison with its immediate predecessor 'Terria', this album does sound much more like the work of a full band. Part of this is likely the result of adding a second guitar player, which gives the songs a thicker feeling even when Devin is noodling around. Devin Townsend seems to be the center of creativity for this band, since its his band (as well as the fact that he engineered the record and wrote most of the material). His vocals are emotional and wretched with a number of different, yet still painstakingly beautiful, contexts. From the pain of songs like the fantastic ‘Storm’, to the mature approach of ‘Depth Charge’.

Synchestra (/sɪŋˈkɛstrə/ sing-KES-trə) is the eighth solo album by Canadian musician Devin Townsend, and the second and final album he recorded with The Devin Townsend Band. The album was released in January 2006 on Townsend's label, HevyDevy Records. After releasing four solo albums under the name Devin Townsend, each with a different recording lineup, Townsend decided in 2002 to assemble a permanent band for his solo material.

Accelerated Evolution was the first album that was released by The Devin Townsend Band. Previous albums by Devin were named as solo albums. This album was recorded at the same time as the Strapping Young Lad album (Another Devin Project of extreme metal) of the same year. AE was supposed to be the polar opposite of the SYL album. Even though this album is more listener friendly than the SYL album and most of DT's other albums, it still has plenty of explosive riffs and emotional sound. You still have Devin's Wall of Sound made with multi-layered guitars and keyboards

Accelerated Evolution is the prequel to Synchestra. Though it is by the same band, it feels very different. You will not find polka on here. This is not to say it is not original or fanastic, because it is every bit the listen as Synchestra, just in different ways. I feel the album merits it. Depth Charge- A kick tush opener.

This album isn't flat-out retro; the Canadian rocker provides enough downtuned guitars to put this CD in the alt rock category. Yes, Townsend provides downtuned guitar and chugging guitar, but he also provides a lot of gloss and brightness - the sort of gloss and brightness that '70s and '80s arena rockers brought to the studio

Accelerated Evolution is the sixth studio album by Canadian musician Devin Townsend, released in 2003. The album, written and produced by Townsend, was a mix of musical styles from alternative and hard rock to progressive metal. Townsend, the lead vocalist and guitarist, assembled a group of Vancouver musicians to perform with him on the album: guitarist Brian Waddell, drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen, bassist Mike Young, and keyboardist Dave Young. Prior to the formation of the Devin Townsend Band, Townsend had represented his solo releases live with the Strapping Young Lad lineup; the band would play one set of Strapping Young Lad songs and one set of Devin Townsend songs. After the release of Accelerated Evolution, Townsend began touring with The Devin Townsend Band, at times separately from Strapping Young Lad.
