A magic carpet, also called a flying carpet, is a legendary carpet that can be used to transport persons who are on it instantaneously or quickly to their destination. The following are fictional characters from Disney's Aladdin franchise. Magic Carpet was a pioneering Anglo-Indian United Kingdom (UK) band of musicians that first appeared in the early 1970s. Steppenwolf is a 1974 film adaptation of Hermann Hesse's 1928 novel of the same name. The film made heavy use of visual special effects, which were cutting-edge at the time of its release.

Barry from Sauquoit, NyOn November 30, 1968, Steppenwolf performed "Magic Carpet Ride" on the Dick Clark ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'. Elmer H from Westville, OkYeah, back in 1968 I bought the single "Magic Carpet Ride" and the album it came from, "Steppenwolf, The Second. In 1968, it was a wild ride in the music world! There was psychedelic rock, folk rock, hard rock, pop-rock, acid rock, R&B, and more. Steppenwolf, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Frank Zappa, Iron Butterfly, The Beatles and others. were pushing into new areas of rock music.

Magic Carpet Ride" is a rock song written by John Kay and Rushton Moreve from the band Steppenwolf. The song was initially released on the album Steppenwolf the Second. It was the lead single from that album, peaking at in the US, and becoming the band's second-biggest hit, surpassed only by "Born to Be Wild". The single version differs noticeably from the album version with a different vocal take by Kay used for the first verse of the song and differing instrumental balances.

Steppenwolf captured the zeitgeist again with their enduring hit single 'Magic Carpet Ride', which entered the US Hot 100 on 5 October 1968. Issued in September 1968, just three months after ‘Born To Be Wild’, ‘Magic Carpet Ride’ entered the US Hot 100 on 5 October; eventually flying to No. 3 in the US charts, it became the group’s second (and last) top five entry in the US, and their longest-charting single, staying on the Hot 100 for 16 weeks. It was the product of a particularly fertile period for the group, appearing on their second album of that year, The Second, and also finding its way onto the soundtrack of the little-known Marlon Brando sexcapade, Candy, in December 1968.
