The Artistics were an American R&B vocal group in the 1960s and early 1970s. Their biggest hit was "I'm Gonna Miss You", recorded in 1966. The group was formed in 1958 at Marshall High School in Chicago, Illinois with a line-up of Curt Thomas (lead), Larry Johnson (first tenor), Jesse Bolian (second tenor; June 8, 1941 – August 24, 1994) and Aaron Floyd (baritone bass). In 1960 Thomas left and was replaced by lead singer Robert Dobyne.

Rhythm tracks and sometimes strings comprised most of the instrumentation; horns were rarely used. I'm Gonna Miss You" scored the biggest for the Chicago natives. This best-of features 15 sides of Chicago magic, the cream of their Brunswick output, including "Girl I Need You," "You Left Me," "Yesterday's Girl," and "I Want You to Make My Life Over.

With ‘The Articulate Artistics’, this group inarguably cut its best album for Brunswick. Whereas its predecessor and follow-up at times were marred by syruppy orchestration and overblown arrangements, this LP is pretty much an all-the-way through soul effort that sits nicely next to Brunswick classics such as Jackie Wilson’s ‘Whispers‘, Barbara Acklin’s ‘Love Makes a Woman‘ and Tyrone Davis’ ‘Can I Change My Mind‘. Beat diggers can cut their teeth on Hard to Carry On, a funky jam kicked off by a vicious drum break. Sizzling horn chart and infectious chorus on this one. A Man With Feeling borrows heavily from Motown, although the guitar is way more upfront, but One Last Chance is one of those typical Brunswick creatures: a Higher & Higher -groove heavy on the one.
