While Angel Guts: Red Classroom might be Xiu Xiu's most freakish record, I can't help but feel a little underwhelmed by some of the purely freakish tracks here. What did you think of this album?

GTTR07: "Guts in Red Plastic" is two 21-minute slabs of blown out crash and crunch, thin blades and sharp feedback. Relentless harsh noise attack For over 20 minutes, I mangled and mutilated the organs while listening to the amplified, wet mush of the bloody innards and the crackle of the plastic as the sounds recorded to tape. DISTRO copies of the Body Carve tape are en route to: Cloister Recordings (US). No Coast/No Hope (US).

I won’t get into the description again, and it’s in the store. I’m extremely proud of this tape, visually and sonically. Straight up, relentless harsh noise. I did my best to do a norelco layout that still captured most of the intensity of the vhs layout.

Stedson Wiltshire, better known by the sobriquet of Red Plastic Bag, RPB, or merely Bag, is a calypsonian from Barbados. He has won the Barbadian calypso monarch competition a record ten times. Hailing from the eastern, rural Barbadian parish of Saint Philip, RPB became one of few performers from that region in the island to become successful. He carries a large support group of fans that show up to cheer him on from Stand C when he performs against other calypsonians at Barbados National Stadium.

Angel Guts: Red Classroom isn't just some darkened monolith of claustrophobic heaviness. This album is unnerving. It rattles rusted sheets of aluminum siding, it offers omens, it breathes heavily from behind a dirty blanket in an abandoned house that meth heads use to get fucked up. This album is neurosis made tangible. Xiu Xiu have made an album unlike any previous. Redefining their already near undefinable sound.
