Rerelease of the two EPs Island and Orakel on one CD. All tracks are remixed and remastered. English translations for the German songs: 3. Ground 4. Oracle 5. Over the Vale Note: "Grund" is a German word that can have a different meaning. It could mean 'ground', 'argument', or 'reason'. Recording information: Tracks 1-6 recorded in winter 2003 at Studio 308 and Flammenmeer Studio by Tim Steffens and Island. Mixed and mastered by Armin Rave and Island at Soundsight Studio, March - April 2007.

Island are a band which have a sound all of their own, they mix death metal, post rock, ambience and even a sprinkling of jazz into one unique package that refuses to settle down. Moments of pure beauty go hand in hand with crushingly heavy guitars and the hoarse growls of the vocalist, and a simple verse can quickly break down into a jazzy section in a moment. The keyboards throughout gives Orakel a sort of dream like quality and a certain beauty that contrast the heaviness in a way that I have never heard before.

But Orakel, drawing on two separate sessions in 2003 and 2004, does soon shift into a now familiar combination of acoustic Nordic-folk beauty and electric rampage and mayhem, all elegantly arranged for the discerning ear.
