I am so proud to announce the release of a new disc, in which I have collaborated as arranger and producer: David Pastor & Back To Brass - Engantxats a Monk. The CD, published by Omix Records of Warner Bros Music Spain, is entirely dedicated to the music of Thelonious Monk for a brass quintet (Back to Brass), a soloist trumpet (David Pastor) and drums (Felipe Santandreu). is the seventh album Thelonious Monk released for Columbia Records, featuring several original compositions as well as jazz standards. The track "Pannonica" is a tribute to the jazz patron Nica de Koenigswarter. The track "Teo" is a tribute to the albums' producer Teo Macero. The album cover is a photo of Monk taken by W. Eugene Smith in 1959. Between 1957 and 1965, Monk and other prominent New York jazz musicians rehearsed at the photographer's home, nicknamed 'The Jazz Loft'.
