The Blues Band is a British blues band formed in 1979 by Paul Jones, former lead vocalist and harmonica player with Manfred Mann, and guitarist Tom McGuinness also of Manfred Mann and The Roosters. The band’s first line-up also included bassist Gary Fletcher, slide-guitarist Dave Kelly who had previously played with The John Dummer Band, Howling Wolf and John Lee Hooker and drummer Hughie Flint, of John Mayall's Blues Breakers and McGuinness Flint, the band he formed with Tom McGuinness.

I'm looking for some blues-rock bands that are heavy, and tend to use fuzz for that thick sound. Epic tune! I used to play this kind of music in my old band - we used to bang out a few White Stripes songs. The Sonics "Have Love will Travel" is also a classic choice, that whole album is awesome. Legendary Shack Shakers also have a few awesome live tracks (but without the upright bass it may lose a bit!) If you are looking for something a bit more "alternative" and less mainstream, I would go for "Love on the Rocks" by Burning Condors  . If you like Black Keys, listen to The Big Come Up. This 2007 album saw Foley team up with her fellow blues artists Deborah Coleman and Roxanne Potvin. The title track features blistering lead guitar from all three guitarists. Sue’s latest release He Said She Said is a collaboration with roots musician Peter Karp. Grady’s got the blues knitted into his DNA. Just check out the man and his band shimmying their way through Slim Harpo’s Baby Scratch My Back (see below). The band is so laid back they’re actually sitting down. and old boiled sweets. This is music that gets the beer flowing and makes you glad you left the car at home. As much as we enjoy the Stevie Ray Vaughan-fuelled blues of the new breed of artists, Grady’s brand of downhome greasy goodness is the stuff that would keep us up way past our bedtime.
