Saunders, Garcia, Kahan and Vitt's Live at the Keystone is a great listen whether or not you have any affinity towards the Dead or not. Laid back jams of Dylan, Jimmy Cliff and some nice standards make this LP enjoyable for many different listening experiences. This is a great band and the two record set gives them plenty of time to stretch out.

A re-launch of the Rainforest Band as a tribute to Merl Saunders took place at the 29th Starwood Festival on July 25, 2009, the site of their last performance, featuring his son Tony Saunders, Michael Hinton, Misa Malone and other members of the Rainforest Band and other Saunders’ projects. Also appearing were Sikiru Adepoju on talking drum and Douglas "Val".

Keystone Encores is an album by Merl Saunders, Jerry Garcia, John Kahn, and Bill Vitt. It was recorded live at the Keystone in Berkeley, California, on July 10 and 11, 1973, and released on CD by Fantasy Records in 1988. It was also released, with additional tracks, as two separate LPs called Keystone Encores Volume I and Keystone Encores Volume II. Keystone Encores was the followup to Live at Keystone, a two-disc LP released in 1973 containing songs from the July 10 and 11 concerts.
