Fits is White Denim's second LP on European label Full Time Hobby Records, following up the critically acclaimed releases of 2008's EU debut Workout Holiday and US debut Exposion. The band's third full-length album was released in Europe on June 22, 2009, and was released in the United States on October 20, 2009 on Downtown Records.

White Denim is an American four-piece rock band from Austin, Texas, United States. Their music is influenced by dub, psychedelic rock, blues, punk rock, progressive rock, soul, jazz, experimental rock with home-based recording, jamming approach, intense looping work and unusual song structures. In March 2005, two bands, Parque Touch (Josh Block, James Petralli, Lucas Anderson) and Peach Train (Steve Terebecki), played a show together at Beerland in Austin, Texas.

White Denim ask you to imagine turning the record over after the end of Track 7 to discover their mellow side. Paint Yourself is a downy country-funk caress, with singer James Petralli imagining he’s Devendra Banhart piloting Little Feat. I’d Have It Just The Way We Were adds a bossa nova woodblock to complement Petralli’s sunkissed crooning. Was it a ploy to contrast Fits’ fast and hard first half with its mellower second part? Yeah, we saw a pretty clear division emerging in the songs we were recording for this album. So from that came the idea to sequence it like an LP with a 30-second pause in the middle where you could imagine getting up to flip the record over.
