Bird and Diz is a studio album by jazz saxophonist Charlie Parker and trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie. It was recorded primarily on June 6, 1950 in New York City. Two tracks featured on the original pressing, "Passport" and "Visa", were recorded by Parker, without Gillespie and with a different personnel than that of the other tracks, in March and May 1949. The album was originally issued in 1952 in 10" format as a collection of 78 rpm singles on the Verve subsidiary label Clef Records.

Live from Carnegie Hall: Diz 'N Bird-Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker. Between the anniversary of the concert and Dizzy Gillespie’s birthday, and in advance of a celebration of Charlie "Bird" Parker by Joe Lovano Us Five on October 28-Live from Carnegie Hall this week looks at the 1947 concert that brought Gillespie and Parker together on the Carnegie Hall stage. The two giants of jazz were at a very early stage of their Carnegie Hall careers on September 29, 1947. It was Bird's second appearance-he made 13 in all, the last being almost exactly seven years later on September 25, 1954, and six months before his untimely death. Although this concert marked Dizzy's third appearance at the Hall, it was his headlining debut. Gillespie went on to perform more than 50 times at Carnegie Hall, right through to the early 1990s.
Joined by the underrecorded piano of John Lewis, bassist Al McKibbon and the slightly overrecorded drums of Joe Harris, Bird and Diz generate some real fireworks on five songs, and Parker's rendition of "Confirmation," and the CD's high point, is definitive and memorable. The remainder of the set (ten selections including "Cool Breeze," "One Bass Hit," "Cubano-Be, Cubano-Bop" and "Things to Come") features the Gillespie big band in typically spirited form.
