The Flying Burrito Bros (album). The Flying Burrito Bros is the third album by the country rock group, The Flying Burrito Brothers, released in the spring of 1971. Before recording sessions for the album began, Chris Hillman fired Gram Parsons from the band, leaving Hillman and "Sneaky" Pete Kleinow as the only original continuing members.

The Flying Burrito Brothers are an American country rock band, best known for their influential 1969 debut album, The Gilded Palace of Sin. Although the group is perhaps best known for its connection to band founders Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman (formerly of the Byrds), the group underwent many personnel changes and has existed in various incarnations. A lineup with no original members (and derived from the 2000s-era Burrito Deluxe) currently performs as The Burrito Brothers.
The genesis of the Flying Burrito Brothers can be traced back to Gram Parsons, famous as a pioneer of country-rock. His first band was the International Submarine Band, who released one album but failed to get noticed. Nevertheless, Safe At Home represents perhaps the earliest example of the genre. Parsons then joined The Byrds, where he worked with Chris Hillman to hi-jack Roger McGuinn’s band and record Sweetheart Of The Rodeo
Following the somewhat disappointing Burrito Deluxe, Gram Parsons and the Flying Burrito Brothers parted ways, leaving the band - especially co-founder Chris Hillman - with a huge void to fill. For its eponymous third album, the group decided on Rick Roberts, a singer/songwriter with a strong, clear tenor who had headed west after leaving college in South Carolina. Peaking at number 40 on the Billboard Top LPs chart and number 11 in the UK, the album's success continued the upward trend in the band's commercial fortunes and popularity that had begun with the release of the Ballad of Easy Rider album. The song was excerpted from the album and issued as a single in the . on October 23, 1970, but it only managed to climb to number 121 on the Billboard chart. Nonetheless, the song went on to become a staple of FM radio programming in America during the 1970s.
