I guess that whole dawn to dusk thing is the oldest idea in the book for concept albums, but Ildjarn and Nidhogg make it work very very convincingly.

Hardangervidda part 2. Ildjarn-Nidhogg. Sadly, Hardangervidda 2 is more of the latter. The first four tracks of this ep are not offensive and generally pleasant to listen to. Vast sweeping synth sounds come and go and bring pleasure to the ears before leaving all too soon. The problem with them is that they sound like leftovers from the first Hardangervidda, a release that, despite being the same style of ambient, had a real impact on the listener from the off. Here there is no journey. The sounds are pleasant, yes, but the music is not taken anywhere.

Ildjarn-Nidhogg is the name under which Ildjarn released music recorded with friend and collaborator Nidhogg. Much like Ildjarn's other output, the style of music ranges from raw black metal to peaceful ambient music. The Ildjarn-Nidhogg name first appeared on the 7" Norse EP in 1993, and again in 1996 on the Svartfråd MCD. These two releases, along with unreleased tracks, later appeared on a compilation entitled Ildjarn-Nidhogg years later in 2003 after Ildjarn ceased recording music.

Ildjarn was a black metal project from Norway that formed in 1991. Ildjarn recorded music until 1997 but did not officially end until 2005. The man behind Ildjarn was Vidar Vaaer, although some releases were collaborations with a musician known as Nidhogg. Ildjarn's music was a very simple and lo-fi brand of black metal, with most songs composed of basic drum patterns, a couple of riffs, and unintelligible vocals.
