Description

Jimmy Little OAM (1937-2012) is an Australian Aboriginal musician whose career has spanned six decades. He says his music has been influenced by Nat King Cole and American country music artist Jim Reeves. This was in recognition of "Their joint contribution to reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians".

The Last Rose of Summer" is a poem by the Irish poet Thomas Moore. He wrote it in 1805, while staying at Jenkinstown Park in County Kilkenny, Ireland, where he was said to have been inspired by a specimen of Rosa 'Old Blush'. The poem is set to a traditional tune called "Aislean an Oigfear", or "The Young Man's Dream", which was transcribed by Edward Bunting in 1792, based on a performance by harper Denis Hempson (Donnchadh Ó hÁmsaigh) at the Belfast Harp Festival.

Perhaps Thomas Moore’s most famous poem, The Last Rose of Summer was also set to a very well-known melody, and both the words and music have been interpolated into many other works of art. The Heart of Saturday Night. The Piano Has Been Drinking. Tom Traubert's Blues. My garden knows what's wrong. И лепестки любимых роз. Be in shadows dark and long. Ждут долгий хлад и тьма. Хоть каждый год, It's very clear.

Variations on the Irish Air, Etude No. 6 "The Last Rose of Summer". By Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst - Benjamin Baker. 5. Three Old Viennese Dances: I. Liebesfreud.

Besides, this song had been arranged into a set of extremely difficult variations by Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst for the violin etc. Off their 1977 album "Sin After Sin", Judas Priest recorded a song entitled Last Rose of Summer. Written by Rob Halford and Glenn Tipton, the song is all about "unyielding love", a 1977 3 hr. Science Fiction BBC radio production written by Stephen Gallagher. Besides, The Last Rose of Summer stave we offer here is very simple, which is suitable to play

The Last Rose of Summer. Tis the last rose of summer, Left blooming alone; All her lovely companions. Are faded and gone; No flower of her kindred, No rosebud is nigh, To reflect back her blushes, Or give sigh for sigh. I'll not leave thee, thou lone one! To pine on the stem; Since the lovely are sleeping
