Richard Georg Strauss was a leading German composer of the late Romantic and early modern eras. He is known for his operas
Richard Strauss is mentioned in the advert for this collection but none of his operas are included. So, not enough variety. Another reason is the limited pick of artists.
This is a list of compositions by Giacomo Puccini. Le Villi, libretto by Ferdinando Fontana (in one act – premiered at the Teatro Dal Verme, 31 May 1884). second version (in two acts – premiered at the Teatro Regio, 26 December 1884). third version (in two acts – premiered at La Scala, 24 January 1885). fourth version (in two acts – premiered at the Teatro dal Verme, 7 November 1889). Edgar, libretto by Ferdinando Fontana (in four acts – premiered at La Scala, 21 April 1889).
I absolutely love Strauss' "Di rigori armato" from Rosenkavalier, which I read as a parody of the syrupy sentimentality of Puccini (and a big hint that the opera should not be taken as sentiment). I like some Puccini arias but by an large I am not a big fan of his operas. I find Suor Angelica to be really beautiful. Tosca is growing on me; I still need to see Fanciulla and Manon Lescaut. I really love Strauss, which I find interesting because before I got into opera I was not a fan of his orchestral works (they have since grown on me). Rosenkavalier, Ariadne, Die Frosch, Salome.
Again, I love both Puccini and Strauss. especially when this is poorly supported by the facts. Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working. It ought to be forbidden to ignorant innocents, never allowed into contact with those not sufficiently prepared. Yes, art is dangerous.

In celebration of Richard Strauss' 150th birthday, Christian Thielemann and the Staatskapelle Dresden recorded this thrilling performance of Elektra, the composer's most psychologically harrowing and violently expressionist work. With Evelyn Herlitzius in the title role, Waltraud Meier as Klytämnestra, Anne Schwanewilms as Chrysothemis, Frank von Aken as Aegisth, and René Pape as Orest, this is a powerful cast that performs with unrelenting intensity and nervous energy.
