Laid Back is the debut studio solo album by American singer-songwriter Gregg Allman, released in October 1973 by Capricorn Records. Allman, best known as the anist of the Allman Brothers Band, first began considering a solo career after internal disagreements with that group. He developed the album as a small creative outlet wherein he would assume full control, and he co-produced the album alongside Johnny Sandlin.

Laid Back appeared a few months after the Allman Brothers Band’s universally admired fourth studio album Brothers And Sisters. Gregg co-produced the solo debut with Johnny Sandlin and explored his soul and gospel influences on a hugely impressive collection. The record reached No. 13 on the Billboard chart and contained his version of ‘Midnight Rider,’ a top 20 hit in both America and Canada. The vastly expanded album now contains 34 tracks, including 26 previously unreleased or rare songs, or new mixes.

Laid Back is a Danish electronic music duo group from Copenhagen, formed in 1979. The duo consists of John Guldberg (vocals, guitar, bass) and Tim Stahl (vocals, keyboards, drums, bass). They are best known for the hits "Sunshine Reggae" and "White Horse" from 1983 and "Bakerman" from 1989. Their debut album, simply titled Laid Back, was released in 1981, and the single "Maybe I'm Crazy" became a number-one hit in Denmark. The next year, the single "Sunshine Reggae" was released, and became another chart-topper in their home country; it was later included on the band's second album, Keep Smiling, in 1983, and went on to become a number-one single in Italy, West Germany, and nineteen other countries around the world. In the US, however, it was the single's B-side that became the band's only big hit.

Nero took a lot of risks with this album that ended up paying off, like finding inspiration from future house in Two Minds and the extended interlude in the very middle, the eponymous Between II Worlds. At no point, however, did anything feel foreign or insincere. Throughout each listen, and I’ve had more than I can count at this point, each track felt like Nero. At times, it sounds almost like R&B or trap, but you’re quickly reeled back in to the reality of Nero’s magnificence as their iconic bass synth reverberates in your head. Alana’s shrieking vocals tell the story of a woman at the end of her wits, ready to lay it all bare. The album ends on a somber note as Watson woefully sings through Wasted.
