Carrie & Lowell is the 7th Studio Album, by Singer-Songwriter Sufjan Stevens. Sparsely instrumental, Stevens marks a return to his indie folk roots. Carrie & Lowell since its release has gained universal acclaim, with many critics calling it Steven’s finest work yet. Many songs were inspired by the passing of his mother, Carrie, in 2012, as well as his stepfather, Lowell. Stevens released a live version of the album and a mixtape of outtakes and remixes in 2017. Carrie & Lowell Q&A.

Norman Rose (June 23, 1917 – November 12, 2004) was an American actor, film narrator and radio announcer whose velvety baritone was often called "the Voice of God" by colleagues.

With the Gene Lowell Chorus. Story by Jay Williams. From the Young People's Records 78, released circa 1950. With the Gene Lowell Chorus.

No red rose in all my garden!" he cried, and his beautiful eyes filled with tears. Ah, fon what little things does happiness depend! I have read all that the wise men have written, and all the secrets of philosophy are mine, yet for want of a red rose is my life made wretched. Here at last is a true lover," said the Nightingale

Title: Norman Loves Rose (1982). A teenage boy falls hopelessly in love with his new sister-in-law. When she gets pregnant, someone raises the question that he might be the father-a notion he does nothing to discourage.

Carrie & Lowell is a return to the stripped-back folk of Seven Swans, but with a decade's worth of refinement and exploration packed into i. By now the album's main narrative is well-known. Carrie & Lowell is titled after Stevens' mother and stepfather. Carrie was bipolar and schizophrenic and suffered from drug addiction and substance abuse. She died of stomach cancer in 2012, but had abandoned Stevens much earlier, first when he was 1, then later, repeatedly ("when I was three, three maybe four, she left us at that video store," he sings on "Should Have Known Better"). His stepfather, Lowell Brams, was married to Carrie for five years when Sufjan was a child.
