They officially became The Orange Peels in the early months of 1997, and their debut album, Square, was released in the late summer of that year. The album received much critical acclaim, and was nominated for two California Music Awards; best debut album and best independent album. So Far and lineup changes (1998–2001). In 2005, Parasol Records released Circling the Sun and the band embarked on West Coast and Midwest tours. While the album inherited some of the rock feel of the band's earlier touring years, it also benefited from a sonic sleekness which its previous efforts lacked. Circling the Sun book. Circling The Sun caught my eye with its beautiful cover, first and foremost. I had this book for so long now, never got to it. It was time. Oh the chain of events. Or sometimes also called fate or destiny, right? I first read about Beryl Markham in Almost Famous Women : Stories by Megan Mayhew Bergman. Beryl Markham piqued my interest then, especially when this remarkable women wrote an autobiography, West With The Night, which had Ernst Hemingway glowing from head to toe.

The Orange Peels returned in 2005 on Parasol with the fine Circling the Sun, recorded with yet another lineup. Joining the core of Clapp and Pries were t Oed Ronne (ex-Ocean Blue) and three drummers (Peter Anderson, Bryan Hanna, and Bob Vickers), each of whom played on a few tracks. The band's next record, 2010's 2020, featured returning guitarist John Moremen and only Vickers on drums. After this Clapp worked on his solo record Mixed Greens, which came out in 2012 on his Mystery Lawn label. At once a classic Orange Peels album and a more experimental work that incorporated the synth-heavy sound Clapp utilized on his 2017 solo EP, Six Seasons, the record was issued by Minty Fresh in April of 2018. Besides a single released in 1969 this is the only full album of ORANGE PEEL, recorded at the famous Dierks studios near Cologne. The band split after they produced this effort and the musicians went their own ways. Curt Cress became the most famous later on as a prolific drummer with PASSPORT, ATLANTIS and TRIUMVIRAT.
