Metro Area is the self-titled debut studio album by American house music group Metro Area, released on October 22, 2002. It was named the second best album of the decade by Resident Advisor. Complete your Metro Area collection. The addition of "Dance Reaction" and "¨Piña" to the original vinyl album tracks is welcome. Strut" and "Let's Get" are less interesting, and the last of the three discs is the weakest by a mile ("Machine Vibes" being the less good from the original album imho). The first two discs are heat though, and make this re-issue worth.

Metro Area is Morgan Geist and Darshan Jesrani. After releasing a number of 12" EPs, they issued their first self-titled album (Metro Area) in 2002. The brainchild of veteran producers Morgan Geist and Darshan Jesrani, Metro Area was born out of the pair's somewhat dichotomous love for both the old moods of R&B, disco and boogie and the more cutting-edge sound of innovative house and techno.

Metro Area was compiled from tracks that first appeared on a series of EPs that began to emerge in 1999. Geist had set up his label, Environ, four years earlier, and he and Jesrani bonded over the older and slower strains of New York dance music more than the tribal and progressive dominated the city's clubs at the time. The pair have since seemed ambivalent about Metro Area, with each pursuing more song-based projects.
