Since the most enjoyable tracks are all laid in the front of the album, it almost seems at times like the album isn’t worth fully listening too. Had the album been structured with more a mixture of sounds in various spots, it would in my opinion be perfect.

It's pretty amazing to think Converge has been around almost as long as some of you have been alive, especially considering this sixth full-length is packed with some of the most ferocious moments in the Boston quartet's 15-plus year history. These 14 right hooks are buff motherfuckers, rendered in various shades of blacks and blues and reds, but it's the opening tandem that really cooks. Nowadays, instead of overstuffed, that older album sounds a bit thin. It's a comparative backward glance: Guitarist Kurt Ballou did an especially fine job recording No Heroes. Musically, as if panning for gold, the band removed everything extraneous and came up with something richer. Also surprising: No Heroes is the longer record of the two, even with fewer songs. But because the writing's strong, it speeds by. You see what I'm getting at?

Fans expect it and the guys never fail to deliver.

Converge are poised to follow in the footsteps of bands like Darkest Hour and Norma Jean. While Converge fans argue over whether any of their records can come close to "Jane Doe" or whether "You Fail Me" was a worthy successor to "Jane Doe," "No Heroes" tends to fly under the radar a little bit. If you like anything Converge has ever done, you'll find something in this record that you'll love. The first four tracks average less than a minute and a half each, and are relentlessly heavy, with each one being distinct
