Sir Harold Malcolm Watts Sargent (29 April 1895 – 3 October 1967) was an English conductor, organist and composer widely regarded as Britain's leading conductor of choral works. The musical ensembles with which he was associated included the Ballets Russes, the Huddersfield Choral Society, the Royal Choral Society, the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company, and the London Philharmonic, Hallé, Liverpool Philharmonic, BBC Symphony and Royal Philharmonic orchestras

Huddersfield Choral Society is a choir based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. It was founded in 1836, and is recognised as one of Britain's leading choirs. Over the years the choir has performed most of the major works in the choral repertoire, and has had numerous works commissioned for it, including works by Ralph Vaughan Williams and William Walton  . In August 2016 Huddersfield Choral Society appointed Gregory Batsleer as Choral Director. The team is completed by Associate Choral Director Fanny Cook, Accompanist and Assistant Chorusmaster Daniel Gordon, deputy Accompanist Malcolm Hinchcliffe and Musical Director of the youth choirs Alison North. Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Sir Malcolm Sargent (conductor).

With the Liverpool Philharmonic under Sargent, the Huddersfield Choral Society and the three exceptional English soloists, I started listening to my affordable alternative. On this recording we have the accomplished German baroque orchestra, l'Arte del Mondo under the direction of Werner Erhardt who bring crisp and refined performing with excellent soloists as to be expected of this group, very fine tight playing from this Koln (Cologne) based group.
