The Wreckery issued their first full-length studio album, Here at Pain's Insistence, in August 1987 via Rampant Records. The group produced it with Bruce Johnson as audio engineer. Andree Coelli of The Canberra Times interviewed Todd, who explained "It's a good progression from the last album, the songs are probably better defined, not so much. in style and music, but the songwriting is maturing. The Wreckery are a band started by Hugo Race and Edward Clayton-Jones after their tenure with Nick Cave and the Bad Seed's i. .was like no time had passed at all, we found our Mojo very quickly because The Wreckery was all about the chemistry that exists between the 5 of us. I loved what we did, we never discount the possibility of playing together again under the right circumstances because it's a joy to play these songs and a joy to play together in one of the best live bands of our era.
