Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos (born Rafael Frühbeck; 15 September 1933, Burgos, Spain – 11 June 2014, Pamplona, Spain) was a Spanish conductor and composer. Frühbeck came from a family of German ancestry. He then sent for his fiancée in Germany, and the couple reunited in Spain
Albeniz’ Suite Espanola for piano originated in 1886 with just three movements-Sevilla, Granada and Cataluna. Five further movements were added posthumously from his other compositions. The conductor on this recording is Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos, also of Spanish birth, who arranged Suite Expanola for orchestra, which makes this recording particularly special. Recorded in 1966, these performances have been remastered and sound wonderfully rich, atmospheric and grand.
