Choice: A Collection of Classics. As common as mix albums became, in virtually every style of dance music, Danny Tenaglia's double-disc Choice set still filled a very important gap: the R&B/pop end of New York City club music of the '80s and early '90s. Wisely skipping over the biggest, most familiar hits, Tenaglia dug deep into his crate to resurrect some great tracks, made all the better by the master's selections and transitions.

The album really builds at this point, and the tracks are quite simply stunning, like the fantastic Def Mix of Jody Watley and of course the very brilliant and ridiculously classic Underworld Mix of Saint Etienne. The Young American Primitive provide a stunning title track to drive home the album, with some nice delicate percussion and haunting riffs. There is a taste of the old Paradise Garage with Larry Levan’s Mix of ‘Come On Boy’, and it’s followed by a deep hypnotic anthem by Secret Knowledge. IT is left to The Cure to finish it all off with the very tasty ‘A Forest’  . The tale of Danny Tenaglia's love affair with music, and the world's subsequent romance with him, is one of the critical veins in the body of dance music every dancer's secret discovery; a random purchase at the record store, a reluctant night out that unexpectedly turned magic. The title of his 1995 debut artist album on New York's Tribal Records described it perfectly: Hard & Soul. But even if the cocktail was his own, Tenaglia never hesitated to declare how heavily his influences weighed in his productions - everyone from Patti LaBelle to Kraftwerk, with countless lesser-known Soul, R&B, Latin, Samba, and Disco artists in between. In 2003, Danny came full circle with the release of Choice: A Collection Of Classics, a two-CD mixed compilation that let him pay direct tribute to many of the artists who had influenced his sound and style.
