Burak Bedikyan is a former classical pianist from Turkey who turned to jazz in 1996. For this set he enlisted a high-class US lineup: saxophonist Chris Potter, bassist Peter Washington, and drummer Bill Stewart, who perform with characteristically inventive energy and involvement. Circle of Life rather uneasily straddles conventional and original agendas, but the pianist sounds at his most incisive and intense on freer episodes – like the first part of Prayer for Forgiveness, in which he and Chris Potter vehemently skip, dance and dart around each other.

Burak bedikyan bio: A native of Istanbul, Bedikyan became interested in Jazz during high school with the commitment and passion to pursue a career as a professional musician. Formal music education began in 1996 with distinguished Turkish pianist & composer Aydin Esen where studies included modern harmony and jazz improvisation. Bedikyan attended the "Marmara University Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences" in the same year. Bedikyan recorded his debut album "Circle of Life" in 2012 in NY with internationally acclaimed artists; Chris Potter, Peter Washington and Bill Stewart. Published worldwide in 2013 by the prestigious record label SteepleChase, "Circle of Life" received positive feedback on the international arena from critics, journalists, as well as fans. January 2015 gave birth to the pianist’s second album as a leader.

Burak Bedikyan is a jazz pianist and composer. Bedikyan is "a Turk of Armenian ancestry". Early in his life, he was interested in contemporary classical music. From 1996, he studied with pianist Aydin Esen. He has released four albums on SteepleChase Records. The first, Circle of Life, was a quartet recording with Chris Potter (sax), Peter Washington (bass) and Bill Stewart (drums) that featured some of his own compositions as well as covers. An asterisk ( ) indicates that the year is that of release.
