Stojowski (1870-1946) was a Polish pianist and composer, and one-time pupil of Paderewski. He settled in the US in 1911. This piece comes from a set of 'Romantische Stücke', published in 1902. This is a very angst-filled idylle with a lot of wide leaps in the piano writing, which is very much in the Brahms/Reger tradition.
