Burst is a brilliantly appropriate title for an album that is packed full of liveliness and talent so much so that its energetic charisma spurts out and covers you with its animated influence. Moreover, the title is equally fitting since this band has erupted almost completely out of the blue. Brutus’ sound is incomparable to a single other artist and considering the fact they originated as a tribute band to Refused, they are already building their own unique meandering path, which other upcoming bands can certainly learn from.
BURST were formed by a couple of friends for no real intention but to just make fast paced, heavy music. They were initially called DISLARS. Their older music was more grindcore and crust punk oriented. In 2003, BURST released "Prey On Life" through Relapse records. This is the album that not only set the bands style but also gained them more popularity. This was because Relapse was a more well known label, having in its roster bands like NILE and MASTODON, as well as many well known bands in the metal community. The release was generally well received.
