Following this album, King Diamond's solo career would be put on hold so he could turn his attention to the Mercyful Fate reunion, and to be honest that might be for the best since the sound here does rather run out of steam towards the end, but in general this album is recommended for most devout King Diamond fans. At the same time, it wouldn't be the album I put forward to represent the best of his solo work - that'd have to be the original Abigail, with "Them" and Conspiracy following in her ghostly wake. In King Diamond’s massive discography, The Eye doesn’t quite stand out as a highlight, but I’d still call it an excellent album that should please many fans of og metal.
