Teegarden appeared on the Smokin' . s album with Bob Seger as a member of Teegarden & Van Winkle, with guitarist Michael Bruce (not the Michael Bruce who played with Alice Cooper) and also appeared on the albums Nine Tonight, Stranger In Town, Against The Wind, and Fire Down Below with Seger, as a member of the Silver Bullet Band.

After meeting while backing local rockabilly singer Gene Crose, the two later reunited in the group Skip and the Blue Tones before going their separate ways, with Knape touring behind singer/guitarist Rodney Lay and Teegarden remaining a fixture of the Tulsa club circuit

Their single "God, Love and Rock & Roll" made the top ten and was in the Billboard Top 40 hits of 1970. At times they worked with Bob Seger, appearing live at gigs and even producing an album together with Seger and guitarist Michael Bruce ("Smokin' .
