One Foot in Hell is the third studio album by the American heavy metal band Cirith Ungol. The original LP was produced by Brian Slagel and Cirith Ungol. It was released in August 1986 on Metal Blade Records and re-released in March 1999 by Metal Blade Records on CD. Greg Lindstrom said in an interview: It's an excellent album although I thought the songs overall were not as strong as King of the Dead, and Flint’s bass seems to have gotten lost in the mix.

split w/ Lesson Well Learned by Armored Saint. Cirith Ungol – One Foot In Hell 5:13 09. Armored Saint – Lesson Well Learned 2:57 10. Armored Saint – No Reason To Live 4:10 11. Armored Saint – False Alarm 4:33 12. Armored Saint – Striken By Fate 3:35 13. Armored Saint – On The Way 4:50.

In many ways, One Foot in Hell is a continuation of King of the Dead, but also condenses it. It is worth noting that although both albums feature eight tracks, One Foot in Hell is a full 10 minutes shorter. One can correctly guess from this that the arrangements are thus stripped pretty bare. Despite that, this is a lean, mean album, a muscular affair unlike any other by Cirith Ungol. And as further listens reveal, this still retains the key elements to their greatness, the atmosphere of evil and destruction lurking just around the corner, and more simply, killer heavy metal riffs.

TITLE added to MP3 cart. From Blood & Iron, to Chaos Descends, to Nadsokor (The City of Thieves from Moorcock's Elric Saga?), to 100MPH, and One Foot In Hell this album hits hard, fast and relentlessly with the deep throaty growl of Tim Baker at the lead. IF you can still find it, their follow-up album King of the Dead, with Toccata in dminor, Finger of Scorn, King of the Dead, Atom Smasher, Black Machine, Cirith Ungol, and Master of the Pit is a great compliment to the other CD and the two will make quite a compilation of all their early great stuff.

Performer: Cirith Ungol Album: One Foot In Hell Label: Metal Blade Records. Все хорошее, что было сказано про следующий полноформатный альбом этих американцев, Paradise Lost (1991), можно повторить и про его предшественника.

Never the greatest of heavy metal bands to begin with (although no one could ever accuse them of sounding like anyone else), Los Angeles' Cirith Ungol were really starting to overstay their welcome come album number three, 1986's One Foot in Hell. Where previous efforts like 1981's Frost & Fire and 1984's King of the Dead had contained the odd American proto-metal classic and enough songwriting inventiveness to counter the band's utterly uncommercial talents, One Foot in Hell sounded very tired and uninspired.
