This disc combines his readings of Grieg's "Peer Gynt" Suites with Nielsen's theater music for "Aladdin," a minor work compared to the symphonies but one that is rich in "oriental" orchestral textures. Blomstedt also does well by the Grieg, giving a leanness and clarity to this sometimes too lushly played music.
