Gorky's Zygotic Mynci were formed in Ysgol Bro Myrddin, Carmarthen in 1991.Unusually for such a young band they drew upon a diverse & eclectic range of musical influences that put them noticeably at odds with other contemporary Welsh language bands of the time. An early association with the legendary label Ankst yielded three albums and a number of EP’s before the group made the step up to release a string of classic albums through Mercury & Mantra. Over the next decade, Gorky's became regarded as one of the most original and unique bands in the history of Welsh music. To proudly be able to acknowledge their continued influence today is a true testament to the quality of Gorky’s music. This album is not only a tribute to Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci but it is also a thank you from all of us that have loved the band’s music over the years. Diolch GZM. Gorky's Zygotic Mynci were a Welsh psychedelic pop band formed in 1991 in Carmarthen, Wales. The band split in 2006. The band's best known lineup was Euros Childs (vocals, keyboards), his sister Megan Childs (violin, backing vocals), John Lawrence (guitar, vocals), Richard James (bass), and Euros Rowlands (drums).
Gorky's Zygotic Mynci were a psychedelic folk and alternative rock band which formed in Carmarthen, Wales in 1991. The group performed music in both Welsh and English, and had eight Top 75 singles on the UK Singles Chart during their career. The group disbanded in May 2006. In 1994 Gorky's released their first full studio album, Tatay. Both albums were produced by Alan Holmes who also provided their colourful artwork.
Gorky's music followed unconventional time signature. .Sounding like a bizarrely sweet and whimsical cross between progressive rock, psychedelia, and pure pop, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci were one of the most original and distinctive bands to emerge from the vital post-Brit-pop Welsh scene of the mid-'90s.
