The Lightning and the Sun is a 1958 book by Savitri Devi Mukherji, in which the author outlines her philosophy of history along with her critique of the modern world. The book is famous for its author's claim that Adolf Hitler was an avatar of the Hindu God Vishnu. A shortened/abridged version was published by National Vanguard Books. Resistance Records released an audio recording of readings from the book.

I got back into reading and this is one of the few books that was able to hold my attention. Savitri provided a refreshing alternative view which may seem harsh to the average person who is "in time". I can inference from some of her viewpoints that she understood some esoteric truths (she referred to such as "cosmic truth", I believe) of our reality. He said that Ride the Lightning was another big step forward from their groundbreaking debut album. Steve Peake, also writing for About. com, names "Ride the Lightning", "For Whom the Bell Tolls", "Fade to Black" and "Escape" in his list of the "Top 10 Metallica Songs of the '80s". The album was listed at number 5 by IGN Music on their "Top 25 Metal Albums".
