Marlena Shaw! I have her "Sweet Beginnings " album! For those who dont know, she did a version of "California Soul " that has been sampled by Gang Starr, Pete Rock and others! Great underrated singer! Marie Lindsay. The album cover scares me the more I look at it, she looks like a mummy. At the same time, this song is one of my greatest VN-my findings so far. Sooo good.
