Town Called Malice" is a song recorded by British band the Jam from the album The Gift. It debuted at number one in the UK Singles Chart in February 1982. The title is a play on words of the 1950 Nevil Shute novel A Town Like Alice, although Paul Weller says he had not read the book at the time. It was a double A-side single release featuring "Precious" as the flip side.

Town Called Malice was first released as a Double A-Side single with Precious in 1982, before being featured on the album, ‘The Gift’ a couple of months later. The track depicts life in Woking as Paul Weller was growing up as a Teenager, with the title being a play on the 1950 novel Nevil Shute novel, ‘'A Town Like Alice’'. The track was the only time that the Jam would feature in the US Billboard charts and it was the third UK number one for the band, becoming one of their most loved tunes.

Tracks like Take It or Leave It, Lovers Rock and Same Old Situation move with an undulating reggae skank as Ramirez holds forth on the joys and hassles of everyday romance. Adding some extra sizzle to the simmering ambiance of the album are Paper Cuts (a punky flashback to Sublime’s early days) and Can You Feel It (sparked up by dub effects and Wiz Khalifa’s rap break). Ramirez gets mildly political on Only, but for the most part keeps the lyric mood light and festive. On its own terms, Yours Truly more than succeeds as a smile-inducing, groove-powered excursion. On their first album with the band, Rome Ramirez displays plenty of easy-going vocal attitude with a distinct Jamaican flavor, backed up with crisp, in-the-pocket guitar work. For their part, drummer Bud Gaugh and bassist Eric Wilson reaffirm the mastery of slippery dance grooves that they displayed during Sublime’s ‘90s heyday.
