Reservoir is the debut album of the London-based indie folk band Fanfarlo. The album was recorded in October and November 2008 at Tarquin Studios in Bridgeport, Connecticut, United States and was produced by Peter Katis. It includes the bands featured singles "Fire Escape" and "Harold T. Wilkins, or How to Wait for a Very Long Time", which were released on preceding EPs. Three further singles, "Drowning Men", "The Walls Are Coming Down" and "I'm a Pilot" were released from the album in the summer of 2009.

Fanfarlo are at their best when their lush but occasionally dreary instrumental efforts are focused around a strong, simple melody, as is frequently the case here - on pop-leaning cuts like "Fire Escape," "Finish Line," and "Harold T. Wilkins," and particularly on the sweet, piano-led ballad "If It Is Growing.

Fanfarlo are a band whose poignant and majestic melodies have seen them sitting on the cusp of major accolade since the release of their debut single, Talking Backwards, in 2006. For whatever reason the whisperings of greatness that have since enveloped the band have yet proved to materialise.

If there is a criticism here, it is in the album's pacing. Packing long songs at the beginning – 'Comets' in particular appears to be bringing proceedings to a premature close – Reservoir takes too long to build momentum. But this is a minor quibble. An uplifting, ambitious, and absurdly accomplished collection of songs, Reservoir is a thing of beauty. Treasure this band, they may just make the next few years much more bearable.
