Insides is the third studio album by English musician and producer Jon Hopkins. Released on 5 May 2009, it reached No. 15 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Album Chart in 2009. PopMatters listed the album as one of the top ten electronic albums of 2009. Hopkins's third album, Insides, was released by Domino Records on 5 May 2009. Autumn Hill On Insides, his Domino debut, Hopkins showcases an intriguing musical aesthetic to brilliant effect. Insides is about juxtaposition: natural, arcane textures welded to pulsing, hypnotic rhythms, beautiful acoustic melodies set against jarring bass. The music is reminiscent of the beautiful melodies and harsh dirty beats of other British artists like Four Tet, Squarepusher, Burial and Aphex Twin. Above all, Insides is an audacious album which boasts a magical aura all of its own.

Vessel and Insides are more on his wild side, while The Low Places and A Drifting Up are more structured; you do see his classical elements, especially later in the album. Any of Coldplay's more traditional fans slightly bewildered by the more experimental touches Brian Eno brought to Viva La Vida must have been completely confused when the band chose that album's other co-producer Jon Hopkins to open their concerts last year

Jon Hopkins got a pretty big résumé boost in 2008 through his production work (alongside Brian Eno and others) on Coldplay's Viva la Vida. Prior to this he had worked with Massive Attack and released two albums on small labels. His debut for Domino, 2009's Insides, is his first record that many people will hear and it's a promising, but flawed, debut. It shows that Hopkins has a firm grasp on many styles of electronic music but doesn't prove to be a master of any.
