Don Powell was born in 1936, Los Angeles, California. He arrived in Italy in 1958 as member of Archie Savage’s ballet and moved to Rome where he made himself a name first of all as a singer and a pianist. In 1959 he married an Italian girl (her name was Alessandra Veresani, as reported by Jet) and they had a baby girl called Georgia.

Donald George Powell (born 10 September 1946) is an English musician who has been the drummer for glam rock and later hard rock group Slade for over fifty years. As a child Powell joined the Boy Scouts where he became interested in the drums after being asked to join the band on a Sunday morning parade. After attending Etheridge Secondary Modern School he studied Metallurgy at Wednesbury Technical College.
