This marks the first Top 40 chart position for any of his solo albums. The album features guest performances of Steve Vai, Kirito, John Petrucci, Jens Johansson, Mick Karn, Masaki, Ryuichi Nishida, and Billy Sheehan. Pierrot (stylized as PIERROT) was a Japanese visual kei rock band formed in 1994 in Nagano. After changing their name from Dizy-Lizy to Pierrot and several member changes, the final lineup was completed in 1995 with Kirito on vocals, Jun and Aiji on guitar, Kohta on bass and Takeo on drums. After roughly ten years together, Pierrot disbanded in 2006.

Kirito's solo career began in 2005, when he released his first solo single, "DOOR", and touring under the name, called "The FEF of HAMELN". In 2006, he released his second solo single "TEAR" before PIERROT announced that they would disband in April 12th. In March 5th, he makes his concert NEO CYCLOID LIMITED SHOW CASE "EXISTENCE". He participated in the album LAST DAYS~tribute to M., a tribute album to Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, who had died in 1994. He singed the song "Suicide view". In the last presentation of his tour, EXISTENCE PROOF, of that year, he announced that he began a new band with his brother KOHTA (ex-bassist of PIERROT) and TAKEO (ex-drummer of PIERROT), called Angelo. In September 20th, he released his MEMORIAL SINGLE of Symphonic Concert, entitled "PERIOD".

In August 1988, he released his first solo album, Dragons Kiss, when Cacophony disbanded in 1989, Friedman auditioned for the thrash metal band Megadeth after a tip from fellow guitarist Jeff Loomis. Friedman was initially rejected by Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine for having multicolored hair, however, after undergoing what Mustaine called Rock School 101, Friedman officially joined Megadeth in February 1990. Friedmans audition can be seen on the Megadeth DVD Arsenal of Megadeth, the first album he recorded with them was Rust in Peace which was released on September 24,1990.
