Description

Punk rock started in 1976 on New York’s Bowery, when four cretins from Queens came up with a mutant strain of blitzkrieg bubblegum. Ultimately, we found ourselves pulled toward records that embodied punk’s spirit, and even stretched it a little. Their first album explored obsessions like robotics, Ronald McDonald and cannibalistic apes, making devolution feel like the future.

46. X-Ray Spex – Germfree Adolescents (1978) As with some of the best post-punk bands of the era, this punk quintet didn’t survive past the bright blast of their debut album (LP didn’t arrive until 17 years later). Burning out never sounded quite as great as this, though. Honed to a dangerous point by months of live shows, the London-born group tears through a dozen songs with a casual swing but enough jet fuel in their tanks to propel lead singer Poly Styrene and Rudi Thompson’s sax playing to dizzying heights.

Pornhub Valentine's Day Album. La La Land (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack). Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (Soundtrack From & Inspired by the Motion Picture). 89. Purple Mountains.

This is a list of punk rock compilation albums. Compilation albums played a particularly vital role in the development of new punk rock bands, since relatively few local bands had a large enough audience to justify their own albums. 5 Album Studio Set. 1977 Revisited. Singles Box. The Singles (1991 The Clash album). The Singles (2007 The Clash album). Sound System (album). The Story of the Clash, Volume 1. Super Black Market Clash.

Punk wasn't all about the fashion. The 25 Best Punk Album Covers of All Time. With all the hubbub over the recent show at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, which focuses more on punk fashions, it’s easy to forget there was actually artwork on punk rock record releases. We’ve collected the 25 best here, to reinvigorate the spirit of imaging in this unmistakable form. We’ve left out some of the more arguably classic album covers of all time-The Velvet Underground and Nico and Beggar’s Banquet, among others-for the notion that they may not be true punk enough.

They made the best punk album with "The Clash" and the best rock album with "London Calling". Pure Class of '77 punk sound with elements of reggae, 50s rockabilly and ska. A masterpiece. This album changed my life. Far better than 'London Calling' and definitely equal to 'Never mind the bollocks'. One of the best of all time, sounds like a greatest hits album. Closely followed by Let the Dominoes Fall. 35 Mondo Bizarro - Ramones. From attacking the PMRC and fighting for music freedom, (Censor) to the emphatically singing about working class struggles/fatigues, (The Job That Ate My Brain) to a beautiful, powerhouse of a single, that called out the blatant apathy in this world with disgust in the most eloquent way that's ever been recorded (Poison Heart).

Their second album is their most potent statement, a punchy garage-punk half-hour that nods to old-schoolers like The Wipers while injecting their own sense of ironic humor into snarling screeds like I Hate the Kids. If punk is a teenager’s game, nobody bothered to tell these bruisers. No other album deserves three exclamation marks at the end of its name. The Sonics bridged the gap between rock n roll and punk, and did so with an energy few bands ever were able to capture in a studio. Without this record, there is no Iggy Pop, no Modern Lovers, no Ramones. Deviates My Life Best punk album ever. This list sucks asshole’s.

Punk Rock was never meant to live as long as it has. It was meant to die tragically young and leave a beautiful corpse behind. But as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Sex Pistols scene-igniting debut album, it’s impossible not to look back in awe at how enduring, endearing and enlightening punk rock has been in the years since its first fervent fling in 1977. So we decided to try figuring out our favourite releases from each year since then ‘til now.
