Dragonfly is an album by the gothic rock band Ego Likeness. Dragonfly, released in 2000 on the band's own record label Angelfall Music, is the band's first full-length CD. The follow-up to their 1999 demo, Songs from a Dead City, Dragonfly continued to develop the band's eclectic sound and atmosphere. Recorded over a nine-month period of self-imposed isolation, Dragonfly begins the band's exploration of personal loss, regret, betrayal, growth and change. A Different Kind of Loss" – 1:36.

Background/Info: Ego Likeness was set up in 1999. Driven by core members Steven Archer and Donna Lynch the American formation gained some recognition in the electro-pop scene. This opus brings us back to the early days of the band. The title of the work brings us back to their self-released debut work (1999) while the second disc features (previously unreleased) demo material. Content: This album brings us back in time and yet it sounds pretty contemporary and original. It clearly doesn’t sound like their best work to date although Songs From A Dead City has something avant-garde like. I also like the atypical approach of Ego Likeness, which clearly never jumped on fashion trends. This work has something intimate and mysterious while the second disc reveals the beautiful sadness from the song A Proper Goodbye. This work stands for dark-, but delicious reverie.

Ego Likeness began as an experimental/ dark trip hop project. A demo called Songs from a Dead City, recorded on a four track and self-produced by Archer and Lynch, was released in 1999. In 2000, Archer and Lynch took the project in a darker electronic/ dance direction, resulting in a self-released full length album entitled Dragonfly under EL's own label, Angelfall. Dancing Ferret Records. In 2010, Ego Likeness were signed to Metropolis Records and released their fourth album, Breedless, on April 13, 2010. The album received critical acclaim from music magazines ReGen and Reflections of Darkness. Ego Likeness also appeared as one of 83 artists on both volumes of the cancer-benefit compilations, Electronic Saviors. The group's fifth full length album titled Know Thine Enemy is tentatively scheduled to be released early 2013 through Metropolis Records.
