Description

Gioachino Rossini La Cenerentola Ouverture. London Philharmonic Orchestra Vladimir Jurowski music director Peter Hall stage director. Recorded at Glyndebourne, Lewes, Great Britain in 2005.

Insights - Vladimir Jurowski & Sir Peter Hall. Directed By – Sir Peter Hall. Executive-Producer – Hans Petri (2). Film Director – Robin Lough.

Sir Peter Hall finds a Mozartian dimension in La Cenerentola and Vladimir Jurowski who has always admired the score, finds the libretto as good as one by Da Ponte. Whereas the traditional way to stage this opera is the fairy tale aesthetics, for the 2005 Glyndebourne festival, Hall and Jurowski agreed to present a realistic version, probably closer to Rossini's vision where the dimension of human "dramma giocoso" prevails. Peter Hall Stage director. Vladimir Jurowski Conductor.

Sir Peter Hal. anages to breathe new life into the routines without ever slipping over into farce, while exploring each character in some depth. The sense of an ensemble on top form is underlined by Vladimir Jurowski's exacting, pellucid and vivid interpretation, so that the music, like the libretto, is presented afresh. The Glyndebourne Festival's new production for Gioachino Rossini's opera in 2005: now a classic! This is the story of Cinderella, of course, but also the story of Beauty and the Beast. As ever in the opera buffa, the good wins over the bad. Maxim Mironov (Prince Ramiro) and Ruxandra Donose (Angelina, called "La Cenerentola"), are gathered on the Glyndebourne Festival's stage.
