Rory’s eighth solo album ‘Calling Card’ was recorded during 1976 at the famed Musicland Studios in Munich. All of Rory’s previous releases had been self produced, for this album he was keen to find a producer who had an affinity with traditional rock values but who was open to new ideas. On his previous release ‘Against The Grain’ Rory had started to shift away fromt eh blues/rock sound he’d made his own, creating a harder sound.

Well the rain ain't fussy 'bout where it lands It'll find you hiding no matter where you stand It's gonna rain brother and it's gonna rain hard When the blues comes calling with his calling card. It ain't too funny when you'd rather die Ain't no pleasure when that girl don't reply To your lovesick letter that you wrote in tears About feeling so bad for a million years.
Band Name Rory Gallagher. Album Name Calling Card. I'll Admit You're Gone.
Calling Card was a landmark in a variety of manners. Up until then, he personally produced all of his material. The individual he selected was Deep Purple bassist Roger Glover and what a decision that was. The production is exceptional with all the instruments sounding as they should on a blues album; crisp, clean but vintage at the same time. This album is a milestone in Gallagher’s career for another reason too; it was the fifth (including Irish Tour) consecutive album with the same lineup. After this one he retained only long time bass player Gerry McAvoy. So, did the aforementioned changes have any impact on Gallagher’s music" The answer is an emphatic yes; Calling Card is one of Gallagher’s most rock driven records.
