Lord Of The Ages is a music studio album recording by MAGNA CARTA (Prog Related/Progressive Rock) released in 1973 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. This is Magna Carta's "Stairway to heaven". The comparison with that song is appropriate on a number of levels.

This sounds often pretty nice, but there is so hopelessly little substance in the music that it is ultimately only the surface that shines. Underneath, a big void stares mercilessly at us. The lyrics are as pretentious as they come and will cause many of us to blush involuntarily. Sugar is everywhere on the music in thick layers. Sad low point: the Elton John imitation of That was yesterday, or is it satire? At least M. ean is in form. Three wild cloud-riders on very eager mounts appear over the horizon. One with no face, one with a Viking hairdo and one with glasses!

Lord Of The Ages’ was the fifth release by a British group that took folk music into a new dimension during the early 1970s. All the songs are written by founder member Chris Simpson and vary in mood from the gentle lilting introspection of ‘Wish It Was’ and ‘Two Old Friends’, to the dynamic title track that evolves into an aggressive blues-style workout. This was Magna Carta's fifth album, first released in 1973, and boasts a cover by the the legendary Roger Dean. Lord of the Ages is one of the six Magna Carta albums that went gold. The lyrics from this album and Seasons were used as part of the English syllabus in several European countries.
