Car Seat Headrest's remake of its Bandcamp classic Twin Fantasy is an improvement on all fronts.

Originally released and acclaimed in the online community in 2011, Will Toledo took to original lo-fi sound of the album and added a band to broaden the sound and density of Twin Fantasy. As a result, the album packs much more of a punch.

Twin Fantasy (Face to Face) is the eleventh studio album by American indie rock band Car Seat Headrest, released on February 16, 2018. It is a complete re-recording and reworking of the band's sixth studio album, Twin Fantasy, released in 2011. The CD release is bundled with the original 2011 album. The fact that Car Seat Headrest came from bandcamp and is one of the few raw rock bands to have an album ranked as number 1 in this decade tells a lot of the current estate of the genre and the future of It as well. The thing is, this type of Rock doesn't appeal that much anymore, most of the alternative music listeners are more inclined to listen to a experimental Hip-Hop album or a art pop or art rock album like "Modern Vampires" or "A Moon Shaped Pool" at most a post-folk like "Carrie & Lowell"  . As well-realized as the original Twin Fantasy was, it’s obvious that Will Toledo sees the project as a fluid work. For some who may have had trouble finding an entry point to the songs through the original album’s lo-fi haze, this will be good news.

Toledo, who had recently graduated and moved to Seattle, recruited bassist Jacob Bloom and drummer Andrew Katz through Craigslist to record and tour his next album. In October 2015, Car Seat Headrest released the compilation album Teens of Style, the first to not be self-released exclusively via Bandcamp  . On January 9, 2018, Matador Records formally announced the release of the re-recording, entitled Twin Fantasy (Face to Face), alongside a re-release of the original album. Twin Fantasy (Face to Face) was released via Matador on February 16.

With the new Twin Fantasy, Toledo has done the unimaginable: created a reboot that matches its original in tone, passion, and excitement.
